MMPI Scholarship Opportunities

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Meeting Professionals International Michigan Chapter is proud to offer scholarships to our membership to promote professional development and active participation of our members. Outlined below are the MMPI scholarship options available for the chapter's 2009-10 fiscal year. A limited number of scholarships will be awarded.

CRITERIA AND PROCESS

  • All current MMPI chapter members in good standing are eligible to apply for any of the scholarships offered.
  • Those applying for the Independent Planner Scholarship and the Student Scholarship do not have to be members prior to application.
  • Members may apply for more than one scholarship although no more than one scholarship will be awarded per member in a chapter year.
  • All applications received will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee.
  • The actual number and types of scholarships awarded will be determined in the evaluation process and based on the budget established by the Board of Directors.
  • Applications will be judged on the following point system:

    General - 10 Points
    Chapter Involvement - 15 Points
    Professional Vision - 30 Points
    Industry Contributions - 25 Points
    Financial Need - 20 Points
  • Within four weeks of the completion of an education program, scholarship recipient is required to write an article of approximately 500 words based upon something learned from the session/program attended and submit to the MMPI Chapter Office for publishing in the MMPI quarterly Newsletter.
  • Scholarship recipient is required to sign and submit the MMPI Scholarship Repayment Agreement with the Application to the MMPI Chapter Administration.
  • CMP Scholarship recipient must provide proof of test results to MMPI Chapter Office within four weeks of notification of results. 
  • Applications must be received no later than May 15, 2010. Scholarships will be presented at the Celebration! 2010 on June 3.
     

AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS 

Certified Meeting Professional (CMP)
The CMP Scholarship is for the member who desires to become a CMP. The scholarship assists the member with the application and test fees. Recipient of the CMP Scholarship must provide documentation of successfully achieving the designation after notification.

Certification in Meeting Management (CMM)
This senior certification program includes a self-assessment form, home study immersion course and an examination for the CMM designation. Recipient of the CMM Scholarship must provide documentation of successfully achieving the designation after notification. 

Independent Planner Membership Dues
This scholarship pays for one full year of membership to MPI for an independent planner who is unable to join MPI because of cost. Current membership not required. A phone interview may be conducted. Must join a committee and write an article in the MMPI Newsletter during scholarship year. Eligibility: Must be an independent planner. 

Student Scholarship
The student scholarship includes a full year student membership to MPI, a full year of complimentary educational meetings, and an invitation for the student and one guest to Celebration! 2009 on June 4. Attendance at MMPI educational events is required.

Educational Events
The Educational Events Scholarship is awarded to any member in good standing who has financial need. Registration fees are waived for five consecutive MMPI monthly Chapter Education Programs in a given fiscal MMPI year. 

MPI MeetDifferent or World Education Conference (WEC)
Improve your knowledge and skills through intensive educational and individual workshops, general session, the executive tracks and unique networking opportunities.  These scholarships will cover the cost of early registration fee. Scholarship recipient is responsible for travel, lodging and other meeting expenses.
